Huynh Thao
Thao Huynh is a Vietnamese artist whose work redefines the boundaries of sơn mài - lacquer painting, blending tradition with a modern artistic voice. Born in 1980 in Dong Thap, Vietnam, and a graduate of the Ho Chi Minh City University of Fine Arts (2009), Thao is an active member of both the Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts Association and the Vietnam Fine Art Association.
Drawing from centuries-old lacquer techniques, she experiments with natural resin, gold leaf, and vermilion pigment to create luminous, layered compositions that reflect both cultural memory and contemporary life. Through her art, Thao preserves the soul of Vietnamese lacquer painting while transforming it into a living, evolving language of expression.
